PACK OF LIES
Written by Hugh
Whitemore and Directed by Mary Middleton.
In today’s world of
terrorism and surveillance, ‘Pack of Lies’ has become
chillingly relevant. Whitemore based the play on real life
suspense yarn of international surveillance, purloined NATO
secrets and counter espionage – an international world of
intrigue which became all too real for an ordinary suburban
family accidentally caught up in the deadly game.
Whitemore shoce to do more than just dramatise this real life
yarn. Instead he has written a play about the morality of
lying, not the theatrics of espionage for, in Whitemore’s
view, lying is a virulent disease that saps patriots and
traitors alike of their humanity.
What would be your
choice if you were faced with a conflict between family,
friends, and loyalty to your country?
